There is more to OSHC than just buying it
The physical, emotional and psychological health of Overseas Students is our priority. We have a dedicated team to make sure students are looked after.
We strongly recommend that JPIC arranges OSHC, especially when issuing CAAW. This is in the best interest of the student for the reasons outlined below:
JPIC Arranged OSHC
At JPIC, we facilitate OSHC through Allianz Care. Our commitment to our students extends beyond the mere purchase of the OSHC policy. It includes:
- Comprehensive assistance with the policy. We have access to student details through our OSHC portal, enabling us to provide detailed information.
- Assistance with:
- Scheduling doctor appointments (where possible with direct payment from Allianz)
- Arranging any specialist appointments, e.g., psychologists
- Guidance on prescription collection
- Emergency hospital visits
- Translations (where available)
Please note, refunds for OSHC policies must be claimed directly from Allianz Care. Should this be required, JPIC is here to provide guidance.

Agent Arranged OSHC
If agents choose to arrange OSHC, they should consider the following:
- Can you provide onshore support at any time, any day?
- Do you have an office in Brisbane?
- Are you familiar with Brisbane’s hospitals, doctors and healthcare system?
- Do you have time to complete insurance claim forms?
If agents arrange OSHC, JPIC does not have detailed access to the insurance.
If an Overseas Student comes to the JPIC office asking about OSHC or medical advice and the agent has arranged OSHC, JPIC will refer the student to the agent and provide agent contact details.
