John Paul International College English classes focus on effective communication and involve speaking, listening, reading and writing.
Specialist teachers take a fun and practical approach in lessons with students preparing meals, playing sport, identifying Aussie animals, all with a focus on developing each student’s English language skills and language learning strategies.
STEM: Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths
Students have hands-on experiences ‘Design Thinking” using Drones, Robots and 3D printing on the journey from idea to developed product. Students discover the joy in discovery, experimentation and new technology. Activities include:

Australia’s Oceans and Marine Animals
Students experience a marine education program designed to inspire students of all ages to appreciate and take responsibility for the marine ecosystem. In becoming protectors of the sea, students learn to appreciate marine creatures though interactive programs. Activities can include:
- Ocean Life Education incursion
- Gold Coast Beaches incorporating Beach Safety
- Visit to Seaworld on the Gold Coast
- Tangalooma Marine Resort
- Classroom work including vocabulary

Australia’s Aboriginal Culture and Colonial History
Students are immersed in the richness and diversity of Australia’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and discover the music, food, weapons and language of Australia’s first peoples. A traditional ‘Welcome to Country’, ancient art and communication, boomerangs, bush tucker and traditional painting. Australia’s brief Colonial history is also explored. Activities include:
- Indigenous presentation including ‘Welcome to Country’
- Visit to Beenleigh Historic Village
- Visit to Brisbane City
- Classroom work including vocabulary
- Interactive experience with the Green Energy Lab focussing on energy generation and consumption.
- Visit to an Environmental Education Centre undertaking fieldwork collecting data from different ecosystems
- Visit a Gondwana Rainforest at Springbrook National Park, part of the most extensive area of subtropical rainforest in the world and an area of exceptional biological diversity. A wide range of plant and animal lineages and communities with ancient origins in Gondwana survive here.

Originally part of the supercontinent Gondwanaland, Australia is the lowest, flattest, and oldest continental landmass on Earth and offers diverse geography ranging from the snow-capped mountains of the Australian Alps and Tasmania to large deserts, tropical and temperate forest. The goal of this theme is to make students appreciate Australia’s rich past and its current beauty. Activities include:
- Visit to Stradbroke Island off the coast of Queensland
- Visit to Burleigh Heads
- Classroom work including vocabulary
