Subject or Object pronouns

Subject pronouns

  • before verbs: I love my family.

Object pronouns

  • After verbs: My family loves me
  • After prepositions: My family is proud of me.

Pronouns are used instead of a noun or noun phrase, especially when that noun or noun phrase has been mentioned.

Example: I’ve met Sonia a few times. She seems nice.

In this example, the pronoun “she” replaces “Sonia” which has just been mentioned.
