Rule 1

Use the formula as + adjective/ adverb + as to compare two people or things. 

  • Adjective: Your car is as old as
  • Adverb: I can run a mile as fast as you can.

Rule 2

To complete this formula, you can use

  • Subject + verb or an auxiliary verb: I dance as well as he (does)
  • Possessive noun or pronoun: My computer is as old as Rita’s/ hers.
