Brainstorming
Brainstorming is a very important part of writing. In fact, the most important part of any writing is the pre-writing stage.
The pre-writing stage is when you:
- think carefully about the question and what you need to do
- think about all of your ideas and how you will organise them
- think about how you will write your essay.
Here, we are learning about brainstorming.

The question we are brainstorming is:
Do mobile phones help students learn? Why?
Key Points
- Decide what you think. What is your answer to the question? ‘Yes’ or ‘No’?
- Brainstorm at least 4 ideas for an essay with 2 body paragraphs. This means that you have 2 backup ideas if your first ideas do not work
- Decide which 2 ideas are your best ideas to support your answer
- Decide which idea is the best and write about that idea first!
