A sentence is a unit of grammar. It must contain at least one main clause.
A clause is usually made up of a subject, a verb phrase and, sometimes, a complement.

To add more meaning and make your sentences more complex, you have to use conjunctions or linking words. This also helps to add variety to your writing.
